RHET 1302 Multimedia Curriculum

In my opinion, this revised-curriculum version of RHET 1302 was a great experience. The project was not only fun but served as a way of motivating the whole team to keep working and as an anchor for the essays, giving them all a common thread in terms of topic. I wholeheartedly support continuing this program, and I think that future students would greatly benefit from taking it.

This Rhetoric 1302 semester has been like not other literature course I’ve taken. I really like the overall unstructured format of curriculum. The film project turned out to be a success throughout all the bumps along the way. Each assignment, though they could stand alone, made much more sense with an overall goal in mind.

Despite the advantage our group had in knowing most everyone else beforehand, communication was still a problem. The level of personal responsibility was definitly higher, but the lessons learned throughout the course are much more valuable than any other course I’ve had

As far as English classes go, this one couldn’t have been more unique. There was little busy work, and the heaviest portion of the class was spent actually analyzing writing in order to extract valuable lessons, and apply them to our own compositions. The film that we – as a group – did was definitely the highlight of the semester; it taught us not only invaluable communication skills and scheduling abilities, but also how to take the raw “English” that we learned in class, and to convert it into useable form that would be appealing to the audience. After all, who’s ever been excited reading an essay, when they could just watch a film?

So the semester is coming to an end, and we have just finished our last RHET 1302 class. I thoroughly enjoyed this course, and I’m glad I got an opportunity to take a class that was so much more engaging and interesting than a regular rhetoric course. As someone studying the arts, I enjoyed being able to see how rhetorical devices and methods can translate into art and film. overall, I’m a bit sad that there’s not a second part to this course.

The film is complete, finished, finito. I just watched the final cut of our film and I am quite happy with the out come. Though this class has been one of the hardest I have ever had i think it was all worth it.

I would like to say that this class was structured in a very unique way, which made it really fun for me, personally. I learned a lot in this class and really enjoyed the multimedia aspects of it as well. I think most classes are not nearly as educational as this one, at least not in the same way. So, I hope that everyone in this class has an excellent next semester (not that I won’t be seeing you very often), and I bid you all fare well.

The film was done at the last minuite, but it worked out well. I think it really came in well working with parks to finish the final version. The process was difficult, but I feel richer for the experience. I think the film helped me grow as a person. It made me realise that I can try something new and be successful.

I feel that this class was very interesting. It was not like a traditional rhetoric class which emphasizes essay as a form of rhetoric. This class in particular did have a portion that focused on essay, but it also had several other segments such as film. Wheretypical rhetoric classes present a sea of information on just one area, this one gave information on a broad range of topics. Because of this, I would say that the experience we gained was more beneficial to us as students than it would have been had we been in a traditionally structured class.

Well, the time has come to bid adieu to Rhet 1302. It feels like it’s just been a blip on the radar. Despite the fact that it’s all over, I learned far more from this class than any of my high school English ones.
I had a great time during class, what with all of the teacher-promoted, student-led discussions we had about our readings and movies.

Overall, I thought the new class course for rhet 1302 was more enjoyable than I’ve heard in previous rhet 1302 classes. Although there were many stressful times during this class, I think it was a normal thing to experience, especially in a college english class. Working with a film was definitly more exciting. And all the experience of a real world business was taught throughout the course. It was hard work, however at the end, it was worth it. Not only was the class interesting, but our professor, Ms. Vance did a wonderful job of teaching a new class course such as this.
